Amongst the skyscrapers and numerous buildings, lies what is referred to as Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina. One of the main attractions to this area is the Discovery Place. This is a a museum that is geared towards children that houses an indoor rainforest and an OMINMAX theater. The OMINMAX includes a planetarium. The Discovery place is located on Tryon Street. The Nature Museum is of interest to children seven years and younger. The Nature Museum has ponies, rabbits and hamsters plus a puppet show.
During football season, you can catch a game at the Ericsson Stadium. This stadium is the home to the NFL team the Carolina Panthers. If you are looking to shop or dine, you will find the restaurants and stores in the skyscrapers on Tryon Street, the busiest part of the downtown area.
Two museums for the adult taste are the Mint Museum of Art and the Mint Museum of Craft and Design. The art museum has a grand collection of Indian, pre-Colombian and African art. The craft and design museum has a unique collection of metal, glass, fiber, wood and ceramic works. Both museums have an admission price of $6 a person.
For nighttime entertainment, the EpiCentre has numerous sophisticated bar and lounges. Bar 10 is a favorite for it's upscale atmosphere and its unconventional seating.
