Some of the most current news in politics as of October 2009 is included in this article. President Obama has been discussing what the United States needs to do in order to prevent terrorism here and abroad. Apparently, it is believed that Al Qaeda may have some access to missiles. The highest number of casualties for the Americans has occurred this week in Afghanistan. President Obama wants to increase the number of troops in Afghanistan.
This week a man was arrested in New York City and it is believed that he and a group of other extremists had plans to try to cause another disaster similar to 9/11. It helped to provide the President with an additional reason to send troops to Afghanistan and stop Al Qaeda and his forces. Also, the United States is going through the highest level of unemployed in decades. The President has tried to provide states with money to help stimulate growth and employment.
To date that has not happened. At present the lawmakers are trying to pass a bill that would help extend unemployment compensation to those that have lost their jobs. Congress will see another version of the health care bill that is suppose to see that every American has some health care coverage. Unfortunately, many are against the bill and are delaying it. Several high ranking Senators are supporting the bill on its merit, yet others are supporting it to show support for the now deceased Senator Edward Kennedy.
