Among the gossip circulated about Michael Jackson, it was claimed that he slept in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber, bleached his skin, and bought the bones of the Elephant Man. Gossip always swirls around famous entertainers, and Jackson was one of the top stars of all time. Born August 29, 1958, he debuted in 1964 as part of the Jackson 5. In 1971 he began his career as a solo performer.
It was vertiligo, an auto immune disease that removes pigment from the skin, that caused the drastic changes in his appearance. He also had lupus, a life-threatening auto immune disease. Apparently because of disease, he lost his eyebrows and had eyebrows tattooed above his eyes. He also had a tattoo on the front of his head because he was losing his hair and the balding air was darkened. The autopsy report found that he had numerous scars on his body.
During an intricate dance routine in 1979, he broke his nose. After the rhinoplasty, he suffered from breathing difficulties and had subsequent surgeries. On Januray 27, 1984, when he was filming a commercial for Pepsi Cola, the pyrotechnics ran out of control, setting his hair on fire, causing second-degree burns on his scalp. In February of 1993, in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, Michael denied the gossip being circulated about the hyperbaric chamber, the bones of Joseph Merrick, and the bleaching of his skin. He was upset by the gossip, especially when he purchased a chimpanzee named Bubbles and the gossips saw it as a sign that he was losing his grip on reality and named him “Wacko Jacko,” he explained he had vertiligo, and that he had started the rumor about the hyperbaric oxygen chamber himself.
