The current economy has created poor living conditions for many Americans. Due to the recession, companies are enforcing major cutbacks, which have included massive layoffs amongst factory workers, government jobs, and many other industries. In order to uphold certain living conditions, you must have a job with a livable wage, which currently is becoming more difficult to attain. Where you live is important to your family and can increase your quality of life.
Many have found refuge in low income housing. Low income housing offers affordable housing to those making less than a certain amount of money each year. Those who have kids can benefit from low income housing especially if their jobs are not providing enough to live comfortably. Some apartment complexes offer low income applications and will cut deals with tenants when approved. Low income housing must meet all standard requirements including heating and plumbing.
The financial crisis has also caused many homeowners to lose their homes forcing them to downgrade into smaller or less convenient areas. Those with children may find that their kids must share a room, in turn creating more family conflict. Many families have had to trade in large yards and convenient locations for smaller apartments or condos. The economy has affected all walks of life, even the elderly. Those who once had in-home care might be forced to move into social communities or facilities that offer cheaper care. As the economy continues to recover slowly, many are hoping to increase the quality of their living conditions.
