All About Nancy Grace

The dubious personality that is Nancy Ann Grace is a onetime prosecutor and the host of the Headline News show that shares her name. She was also the former host of a court television news show called “Closing Arguments.” Grace has been on many other television shows like “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” “The View” and “Larry King Live.” Nancy Grace has also authored a book, “Objection!,” that made the “New York Times” Best Seller list in 2005. Nancy characterizes herself as a victims rights advocate, a goal she says was brought about by the heartbreaking death of her finance when Nancy was only 19 years old.

Nancy Grace was born on October 23, 1959 in Macon, Georgia and lived a normal working-class childhood. Grace's plan to marry and become an English teacher came to an end when her fiancé Keith Griffin was murdered by a disgruntled former employee. From then on her concentration turned to law and victims rights. She attended and graduated from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University Georgia and received her Masters in constitutional and criminal law at New York University. While a special prosecutor for the Atlanta-Fulton County District Attorney's office, Grace took on the hard felony cases like child molestation, arson and serial rape. Nancy Grace is said to have won every conviction she ever prosecuted, even though a few cases were later overturned on appeal.

Nancy Grace left Court TV in 2007 to more intensely pursue her CNN career along with doing plenty of charity work. In April 2007, Nancy wed David Linch, who is an investment banker from Atlanta. On November 4, 2007, Nancy gave birth to fraternal twins, John David and Lucy Elizabeth.

Hollywood And Gossip

All the celebrities in Hollywood are always generating gossip about themselves. The news teams are constantly watching them to see all that they do. If one of the celebrities goes to dinner with someone, the press knows about it. From there, the gossip starts and then it grows to TV shows and other news outlets. If you are famous in Hollywood, you have nothing that is private. Newspapers , magazines, news casts and everyone else that reports news of any kind chases them to get all the latest gossip. It is a race to see who can put the story out first and who can get the most gossip on anyone.

Britney Spears has really been in the spotlight with all her activities and things she has done in the past year. She can’t even walk out her door without someone taking pictures and asking questions. Most of the stars in Hollywood have body guards; this also gives the writers something to start gossip about. This has to be a tough life but they enjoy it as well.

The more gossip that is going on about a celebrity, the more offers they get for TV series and movies. Some of the gossip is true, while other gossip is less than factual. But after all, that is what gossip is all about. When writers are writing about the stars, they are also writing for the reader. If the article is not interesting it will not sell, so it has to be written with this in mind. News casters have to keep their gossip to the facts but some of the magazine articles can blur the line between fact and fiction.

Living Conditions In The Economy

While living conditions in the current economy continue to deteriorate, it seems that everyone is being affected. Back in May 2009, there was an uprising in Athens, Greece due to illegal immigrants living in a courthouse in central Athens. Several dozen people attacked the building, hurling rocks and firecrackers at it occupants. The police interfered with tear gas and stun grenades against the protestors, who feel as though they are foreigners in their own country and these immigrants bring crime and live in squalor in their city.

This is not an unfamiliar concept in the United States, as homeless people take over foreclosed homes in Miami, Florida. Unbelievably, no one is complaining and the police are not going to act until the owner of the house calls and complains. Many of these are bank owned that owners have gutted and abandoned. Many times there is no running water or electricity, but the homeless feel that this is better than a house sitting vacant. Some people were in their seventh abandoned home as of January 2009, making for a pretty bleak picture for banks looking to get their money back out of these properties.

Although the economy is affecting every country in some way, the impact has never been so obvious for families struggling to pay their mortgages, bills and put food on the table. Many families are eating at home, cut out all entertainment activities and reduce their grocery bills by purchasing generic or simply going without. Even with these changes, many families are not able to make it and end up on the streets, homeless. Others are being taken advantage of by homeowners renting their homes to them and then not paying the bank. Forcing the family to move in a short period of time.

Current Healthcare Issues

PricewaterhouseCoopers was hired by the insurance lobby to review the Senate Finance Committee’s reform package. The report concluded that the reform would double insurance premiums for families, individuals and employers. It also said that it would cost more money to do the reform, rather than leaving the system untouched. Individuals would see premiums increase to $9,700, by 2019 from $4,200 and families would see an increase of $25,000 from the $12,300 it pays today. The report also stated that the reform would do little to reduce the overall costs of health care.

There were four main provisions that the report focused on, which they say would make coverage less affordable for people, including reforms in the insurance market coupled with a coverage mandate, cuts in Medicare payments, a tax for high cost health plans and new taxes for pharmaceuticals, medical devices and other health related industries. Backed by America’s health insurance plans, this report comes prior to the Finance Committee approving the health reform blueprint. Additionally, GOP members will use this report as ammunition against the current health care reform movement.

On the other side of the fence, AARP Executive Vice President, John Rother, told reporters that “I really don’t think it’s worth the paper it’s written on,” and “If anyone believes it, that’s a problem.” The American Health Insurance Plans are standing by the findings of the report. There will be a key vote in the Senate on Tuesday and many believe it will raise costs of individual coverage by hundreds of dollars a year.
